Enrolment
- The enrolment is binding.
- Course places are filled in the order of enrolment.
- The minimum age limit for courses is 15 years, excluding family courses.
- The minimum age limit for participants in technical craft and handicrafts courses is 18 years.
- When you enrol online, please remember to check your contact information.

The fee does not include study materials unless otherwise stated.
- When the course has started, we will send you a message by email. The message will include instructions on how to pay for the course online.
- If you do not pay the course fee within 14 days based on this first message, we will send a second message.
- If the invoice is still unpaid after two messages, you will receive a traditional invoice by post or an e-invoice to your online bank, if you have made an e-invoice agreement in your online banking. Omaposti and Kivra are also still in use.
Cancelling your enrolment and cancellation terms
- You can cancel your enrolment free of charge until 7 days before the course starts. The exception is courses for which there is a mention of a different cancellation time.
- If you cancel your enrolment 1-6 days before the course starts, you have to pay 50 % of the course fee and the material fee in full.
- If you cancel your enrolment on the starting day of the course or later, you have to pay the course and the material fee in full.
- Not showing up for the course or refusing to pay the invoice does not count as cancelling your enrolment.
- Cancellation terms also apply to students who enrol on the course from the queue.
If an autumn term course continues in the spring term the enrolment is for both terms. If you only want to attend the autumn term, contact the customer service.
PLEASE NOTICE: You cannot cancel your enrolment to the teacher of the course.
Discount for unemployed job seekers
Vantaa Adult Education Institute gives unemployed job seekers a 50% discount on course fees that are 21 euros or more (excluding courses marked with *). The discount does not apply to material fees of the course.
Submit your unemployment certificate to Vantaa Adult Education Centre before the first lesson. After the course has started, a discount can no longer be given. You can bring the unemployment certificate to our office (Lummetie 5, 01300 Vantaa) or send it by email to aikuisopisto@vantaa.fi.
Documents Required for Unemployment Discount
Currently, unemployment can be proven at Vantaa Adult Education Centre in the following ways:
- The most recent unemployment benefit payment slip
- A decision letter regarding unemployment benefits
- A certificate of active job search status printed by your employment officer (previously printable by the customer)
- With a screenshot of your job search status from the Työmarkkinatori website. The photo must show the person's name and the information that they are an unemployed job seeker.
Submit one of these four documents to Vantaan aikuisopisto if you wish to receive the unemployment discount. The certificate can be sent by secure email to aikuisopisto@vantaa.fi or delivered in person to Vantaan opistotalo, Lummetie 5, 01300 Vantaa.
The unemployment certificate must be shown at the beginning of both autumn and spring terms. The discount is only valid for one term.The unemployment discount does not include the following services:
- courses marked with *
- study tours
- language exams
- exams
- course certificates
By logging in to Ilmonet and going to the My Information section, you can see at the bottom of the page whether you have a valid unemployment discount and at which Ilmonet institute it is valid.
Please note that discounts are institution-specific. To receive a discount, you must send the certificate separately to each Ilmonet institute for which you have registered.
Institute policyWhen you enroll in a course, you commit to complying with the following principles, which aim to create a good foundation for the operations of the adult education center and promote general comfort, safety, the desire to learn and good manners:
- Come to class on time in accordance with the teacher’s instructions.
- Leave the classroom and your seat tidy at the end of class.
- All students are entitled to a safe study environment. To maintain this, be kind to others and take them into account, without bullying of any kind.
- Those enrolling in a course must provide their names to the teacher of the course in order for teaching to be organized, participants to be identified and a safe learning environment to be ensured.
- Disrupting teaching and inappropriate behavior are not allowed.
- Threatening and violent behavior are not allowed.
- Photographing, filming or otherwise recording the teaching without permission is not allowed.
- The use of alcohol and intoxicants and being under their influence is not allowed. Cases of drug use will always be reported to the police.
- Inform a teacher or other member of the educational institution’s staff if you notice any bullying, harassment or violence.
- Smoking and the use of tobacco products is not allowed on the premises of the institute.
- Handle the institute's property with care. Report any damage to property to a teacher or other member of the institute’s staff immediately.
- You are liable for any intentional damage you cause.
- Pay your course fees before the deadline.
If you violate these principles, we may deny you the right to participate in courses.
- If a seat becomes available within 7 days before the start of the course, we will send a text message to everyone on the waiting list, and the person who replies first will get the seat.
- If a lesson is cancelled, we will do our best to inform all the students by text message, email of phone call.
- If a course is cancelled due to below minimum number of enrolments we will inform the students.
- It is possible to enrol in advance for some continuing courses (e.g. languages, arts and dance). Teachers will inform the students about this possibility on the last lessons.
- There are no lessons on week 8, nor on holidays and the eves of holidays.
- The institute does not insure its students. It is recommended that you have your own leasure-time insurance.

Vantaa adult education institute has the right to change the course information given on Ilmonet. Occasionally, we may have to cancel a course or a course session or change the place, time or method of teaching. The institute reserves the right to cancel one course session from a course that has at least 11 sessions per term without any compensation. If more sessions are cancelled, refund is given if the refund amount exceeds 15 euros. If there are differences between this and the Finnish text, the Finnish text prevails.
